Honza's view on A1GP's 2nd season
When did you start racing? Did anyone in your family race before you?
I had begun 1994 in karting. My father is race driver.
What attracted you to A1GP? Why do you think so many drivers have returned for the second season?
In A1GP are racing many national teams and there are meeting competitors from all over the world.
How has testing been going?
I tested only once so far.
How did you spend the off-season? What are your off-track pastimes?
I race in Formula F3000. In my free time I like to go the cinema and of course do the studies.
How excited are you by this season? What are your goals for the new A1GP season?
I do not know how in many races I will participate. When I would race, I would like to be up to the tenth place.
What kind of impact did you hope that A1GP made on motorsport fans after its first season? How will the series do this season?
For fans it is very interesting because race national teams and the same cars. There is a lot of overtaking and it is more interesting than Formula 1.
How does the thrill of A1GP compare to the motorsport experiences that you have had in your career so far?
It is the best serie I had ever raced in. The car excellently brakes and speeds up. I like the gearing under the steering wheel.
What was your most memorable race last season and why?
The last race F3000 in the Czech Republic in Brno, which I had won.
Race drivers are superstitious people. What are your superstitions? Do you have any pre-race rituals? Do you have a driving motto?
I am not superstitious and I do not have any special ritual.
What countries are you most looking forward to going to? Are there any particular tracks that you enjoyed racing on and which ones did you find demanding?
I like the circuit in Zandvoort and in Brno. On the most others I did not race yet.
The camaraderie in the paddock between all the drivers, team principals and other team members is something that you must be looking forward to again.
What were the most memorable moments and will individuals do you have to look out for?
At the moment I do not know who will participate in the races, but I know some drivers and I am looking forward to meet them.
What do you think of the possibility of an A1GP event being staged at night?
Certainly it would be interesting. I already experienced race at night and I liked it. But I do not know how technically would it be realizable with lighting.
What are your predictions for the top three finishers this season?
That is very hard to say. The best will be if it was Czech Republic, Brazil and somebody else.
What is an A1GP car like to drive? How do you control use of the PowerBoost?
The car is good to drive, but it is very physically demanding. I use PowerBoost when I need to overtake somebody on longer straight.
Which do you think will be the most closely fought/demanding race of the season?
The most demanding race for us will be that one in Brno, where would be lots of our fans.
