LMS: Charouz and Aston Martin Racing will try to set Brno track record with Jan Charouz - (19.09.2008)

Czech motorsport fans can look forward to see a real delicacy during the weekend. The Autumn Prix of Brno will see a special run of the Aston Martin powered LMP1 prototype with Jan Charouz behind the wheel. He will try to set a new unofficial track record. Official track record is 1:47,296 was set in 2006 by Alex Yoong during the A1GP race. Unofficial best time set David Coulthard with McLaren-Mercedes F1 when he clocked 1:36,77 (2002). The track was resurfaced during the last winter so all records were cleared.

“Our attempt to set a new track record is mainly to show Czech fans our car because they could have seen us only on TV or had to travel abroad. We will run the car in the break between races 11.20 - 12.25 otherwise our prototype will be displayed in the paddock,” says Jan, who has reached top speed 283 km/h during Wednesday test when the car already broken the current benchmark.
